"Death in Heaven" is the twelfth and final episode of the eighth series of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. It was first broadcast on BBC One on 8 November 2014. The episode was written by showrunner Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay .
The first episode of the series, "Deep Breath", has a running time of 76 minutes, making it – at the time – the second-longest episode of the revived Doctor Who era beginning in 2005, the longest being "The Day of the Doctor" with a running time of 77 minutes (this episode was eventually beaten by "The Power of the Doctor", with its 88-minute runtime, in 2022).
