Camp Becket, also known as Camp Becket-in-the-Berkshires, is a YMCA summer camp for boys in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. Founded in 1903 by George Hannum on Rudd Pond in Becket, Massachusetts , it is one of the oldest continually operational summer camps in the United States, and is consistently rated among the best camps of its kind.
After formal training, many programs require CITs to be assigned for a time period to an experienced counselor to assist and learn during sessions with campers. In other programs, the CITs stay together as a unit but are assigned during the day to help other camp staff, assist with special events, and participate in a service project. [6]
Camp Mason's summer programs include a traditional co-ed overnight camp, western ranch camp, day camp, and adventure trips camp. Teens who have finished the 10th grade can participate in the Counselor-in-Training program. Camp Mason's Outdoor Center offers programs for families, school groups, and business retreats. [6]

This tradition can trace its roots back to 1972 when the international camp counselor program of the YMCA arranged for a registered nurse from Switzerland to join the staff. [12] For the next decade, the camp hosted a few international staff each year; however, in 1984 Camp Fitch was able to begin to expand the number of staff coming from abroad.
Today, Camp Tecumseh YMCA hosts a variety of both summer camp programs and retreats and events throughout the year. The most popular summer program is general Resident’s Summer Camp, which serves children aged 8–15. These campers stay for one-week or two-week long sessions in a cabin with approximately ten campers and two counselors.
There are leadership programs for campers 14 - 17 years old. Counselers are mostly college students. At the end of each summer Camp Gorham has a family camp. During family camp programs are run by camp staff and family campers themselves help to run events. Camp Gorham serves 1,000 campers each summer. [citation needed]
