Trinity County is a county located in the northwestern portion of the U.S. state of California.Trinity County is rugged, mountainous, heavily forested, and lies along the Trinity River (for which it is named) within the Salmon, Klamath Mountains, as well as a portion of the Scott, Trinity, and North Yolla Bolly Mountains.
Weaverville has relied on the Trinity Journal as its main source of county news, event calendar, and business advertisements since 1856. It is one of California's oldest newspapers still in print. The office of the Trinity Journal is housed in Weaverville's Historic District, right downtown. The Trinity Journal publishes weekly on Wednesdays.
The town had a post office and was also a place for local voters to cast ballots at election time. For a few years around 1907 the site was called Burris from Frank Burris who was the postmaster, ran the store, and mined—part of the time at the Beartooth Mine, a gold and copper hard rock mine across the New River from Denny.
