Jawed Karim (born October 28, 1979) is an American software engineer and Internet entrepreneur. He is one of the co-founders of YouTube and the first person to upload a video to the site. I don’t think people usually envision a Muslim woman in that space. I think that the main challenge is having those conversations and getting people to a place where they stop seeing me just as a Muslim, but a fellow American and person of faith. Being Muslim and being American are compatible and go hand in hand.
