It follows teenage Tanjiro Kamado, who strives to become a Demon Slayer after his family was slaughtered and his younger sister, Nezuko, is turned into a demon. The series' first season premiered in April 2019, having aired on Tokyo MX and other networks, while from the second season onwards it has aired on Fuji TV .
English voice actor Zach Aguilar was overjoyed when being given the role of voicing Tanjiro in the dub due to him being a fan of the series, as well as noting he was supported by multiple fans. Gyutaro neutralizes the wisteria and fends off Tengen and Tanjiro, before grabbing Hinatsuru. Tanjiro combines his Hinokami Kagura and Water Breathing in a charge that stuns Gyutaro and saves her. Tengen joins him to slashing Gyutaro's neck, but he stops their blades and unleashes his Blood Demon Art, forcing Tengen to throw him and himself away.
Tanjiro tries to defend the boy from Muichiro but is knocked unconscious for interfering. The boy, Kotetsu, explains that the "man" he saw is actually a mechanical training doll, built during the Sengoku period. Made by his ancestors, it is his only heirloom. Tanjiro agrees to protect it but they find Muichiro's training has caused severe damage.
Zenitsu pushes Tanjiro off a roof to save him from Daki's obi slashes, after which Gyutaro arrives to mock Tanjiro for his inability to save his friends and protect his demonic younger sister, Nezuko. Tanjiro flees with Nezuko but a girl intercepts them, knocking him unconscious but failing to kill Nezuko. A Kasugai Crow announces that the siblings are to be taken to the Demon Slayers' headquarters, while Inosuke and Zenitsu are found by the Kakushi. Tanjiro soon finds himself in front of the Hashira.
