Leon Ames (born Harry Leon Wycoff; [1] [2] [3] January 20, 1902 – October 12, 1993) was an American film and television actor. He is best remembered for playing father figures in such films as Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), Little Women (1949), On Moonlight Bay (1951) and By the Light of the Silvery Moon (1953).
Lambert was the son of Walter Lambert and Anne Eyre. He married Sarah Trousdell in August 1850, but died without issue. Lambert gained the rank of captain in the service of the 38th Foot. He was at one time a justice of the peace (J.P.) in County Galway. He was a descendant of John Lambert of Creg Clare.
