Thomas & Friends (formerly known as Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends) is a children's media franchise created by Britt Allcroft and currently owned by Mattel.The franchise revolves around an ensemble cast of anthropomorphic steam locomotives and other vehicles, including the main protagonist Thomas the Tank Engine, who work on the Island of Sodor.
The episodes kept their eleven-minute-long runtime, but were now divided into seven minute-long stories, with an additional four minutes reserved for a variety of segments, such as sing-along karaoke songs and music videos, or Thomas talking directly with the audience about lessons learned during a particular episode.
Thomas the Tank Engine is an anthropomorphised fictional tank locomotive in the British Railway Series books by Wilbert Awdry and his son Christopher, published from 1945.He became the most popular character in the series, and is the titular protagonist in the accompanying television series adaptation Thomas & Friends and its reboot Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go.

Thomas is assigned by the Fat Controller to collect the circus train, but is warned that if there are too many trucks, he must share the work with another engine. The Video Collection released "Rock 'n' Roll and Other Stories" in November 1994 which contained eight episodes. Another selection of eight episodes was released as "Thomas & Stepney and Other Stories" in July 1995, and two more episodes debuted on the compilation release "Thomas' Train and 17 Other Stories" in July 1995.
