Franklin Canyon Park is a public municipal park located near Benedict Canyon, at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, in Los Angeles, California. The park comprises 605 acres (245 ha), and is located near the geographical center of the city of Los Angeles. [1] Franklin Canyon is also the name of the canyon and surrounding neighborhood.
Developer Abbot Kinney and Francis G. Ryan, of the firm Kinney & Ryan, acquired the deed to the coastal strip previously purchased by W. D. Vawter and named the area Ocean Park in May 1895. It became their first amusement park and residential project. A horse-racing track, pier, and golf course were built near the Ocean Park Casino.

Riverside Drive then continues east and south along the Los Angeles River, passing just north of the Silver Lake Reservoir. It runs along the northern edge of Elysian Park, passing north of Dodger Stadium before becoming Figueroa Street at a roundabout with San Fernando Road just north of the confluence of Arroyo Seco and the Los Angeles River.
