Hope of the States are an English post rock-influenced indie band, formed in Chichester in 2000. Following the release of 2 albums, the band split up in 2006 before reuniting in 2024. [ 1 ]
The Lost Riots is the debut album by Chichester-based rock band Hope of the States, released on 7 June 2004 in the United Kingdom, on 1 September 2004 in Japan, and on 5 October 2004 in the United States.
Left is the second and final album by British band Hope of the States, released on 19 June 2006. It was released on CD, DualDisc CD/DVD, and as a limited edition double 10" vinyl LP. The album was described by the band as slightly more accessible and guitar-oriented than were the tracks on Hope of the States's debut, The Lost Riots.

Simon Jones, drummer for the band Hope of the States, originally played drums in Youthmovies. Prior to Hope of the States being signed to Sony BMG in 2004, Jones was replaced by Graeme Murray. Their early sound touched upon noise, brooding soundscapes, samples, feedback, and drone, though their mini-album Hurrah!
