The Legend of the Legendary Heroes (Japanese: 伝説の勇者の伝説, Hepburn: Densetsu no Yūsha no Densetsu) is a Japanese light novel series by Takaya Kagami, with illustrations by Saori Toyota, which was published by Fujimi Shobo in Dragon Magazine from February 20, 2002 to October 20, 2006, and has 11 volumes.
The Riyria Revelations is a series of high fantasy novels written by Michael J. Sullivan and published by Orbit Books in 2011 and 2012. The series consists of three original titles, Theft Of Swords, Rise Of Empire, and Heir Of Novron. The books were previously self-published [1] as a six-volume series selling 90,000 copies. [2]
As of the most recent novel, Overcaptain, the saga covers 10 different time periods and 12 major story lines. In other words, as myths became novels, the genre of heroic novels became more developed, replacing the “mythological characteristic of the self” with the idea of using ordinary people in our daily lives as the main character. Jo classifies heroic novels into three groups depending on the degree of “mythical abilities” of the heroes.
