The Port of Gibraltar, also known as Gibraltar Harbour, is a seaport in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. It was a strategically important location during the Napoleonic Wars and after 1869 served as a supply point for ships travelling to India through the Suez Canal . [ 2 ]
Ocean Village Marina is located on the west side of Gibraltar, 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) across the Strait of Gibraltar to the northern tip of Africa. It has 255 berths starting from 8 metres (26 ft) in length with a draught of up to 4.5 metres (15 ft). [ 1 ]
Gibraltar has three marinas: Marina Bay, Ocean Village Marina, and Queensway Quay Marina. [1] Ocean Village Marina is located on Gibraltar's Westside, outside the northern end of Gibraltar Harbour, in the Bay of Gibraltar, next to the airport runway. Rosia Bay is located along the southwestern coast of Gibraltar, the British Overseas Territory at the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula. [1] [2] It represents Gibraltar's only natural harbour, and was formerly known as Rosia Harbour, the site of the previous Rosia Swimming Club. The bay was named after Rosia, a monastery town in northern Italy.

Visitors to Queensway Quay Marina enter Gibraltar Harbour through the south entrance, between the South Mole and the Detached Mole. [9] They stop at the south pontoon (floating dock) to be assigned a berth, and are customarily berthed on the most southern of the pontoons. [8] A coded security system controls access to the pontoons. [10]
Following the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar, Gibraltar was established as a port for international trade. The government-administered Gibraltar Port Authority was founded in 1806. [citation needed] In 1823, the first steamship appeared in the Gibraltar Port which gradually evolved into a bunkering port. [citation needed]
