Fowler (formerly, Fowler's Switch) [7] is a city in Fresno County, California, United States. It is located within the San Joaquin Valley. It has a strong agricultural community, with lush grape vineyards and expansive farmland. Fowler is located 11 miles (18 km) southeast of downtown Fresno, [10] at an elevation of 308 feet (94 m). [7]
A school board was established around 1889. Fowler voters approved a bond to build a permanent schoolhouse in 1901. Fowler School District 26 was organized in 1903, the same year that the high school saw its first graduate. By 1906, students were being educated at the school in Fowler and a schoolhouse in Omer.

From 1925 to 1973 Marshall was designated as a junior high school before becoming a K-12, 7-12, and later 6-12 school. From 1926 to 1978 McKinley was the district's third junior high school before transitioning to an elementary school.
