Come to think of it, the 4 Simmons scopes I have are currently mounted on three .22 caliber rifles, and on one Ruger 77/357 carbine. The one on the .357 was the one on the 77/44. Back 15 - 20 years ago, when I would be sighting in one of these Simmons scopes (all of them the same 3-9x32 model), I would frequently have to rap on the adjustment ...
Im in the market for a rifle scope . My local Walmart has the Simmons 8 point for a decent price . The rifle im would be putting it on will be a bolt action . I was wanting to know if anyone here has used one and what there thoughts are . I have had Simmons scopes before but mostly the low power pro diamond shotgun scope .
Maybe I need to put that old Weaver steel tube on a center fire brush gun and retire it from rimfire use. It was touted that the 60s and 70s era low power centerfire scopes were set paralax free at relatively short ranges. But, I did the head movement test while this rifle was solidly in the Caldwell bags on Saturday and that reticle was shifting.
While looking for .22s, I saw that Walmart had some savage rifles on sale. What I'm looking at is a 110, 270 cal. It is a package for $399. Black plastic stock, accutrigger, enclosed mag well (right term?? no floor plate) Bushnell scope 3 X 9 X 40 I've been looking at a 111 Black plastic stock, accutrigger, detachable mag, Nikon BDC scope. $493
The scopes produced in El Paso, and Japan were as good as almost any optics made. I have 6 of the Super Slam & Classic Extreme scope's that were made in Japan, and they perform excellent mechanically, as well as have very good glass / coatings.
i bought a 243 savage in walmart by oklahoma city a while back and they did the perp walk and the second trip back for ammo,i didnt mind. every store has their policies i guess. but i bought a 22 marlin in walmart some years later in checotah oklahoma and they had no perp walk,i carried it out alone. they did tell me once i bought it i had to get it out of the store as soon as it was paid for.
don't file the front sight down, it will make the shot higher. For a cheap .22 scope setup, go with Weaver medium .22 and air rifle rings with a Sportsman's Guide scope.
A friend of mine called me several days ago because he came across about a dozen of new Norinco brand rifle scopes in a second hand store. He bought a few and I went there and bought the last four remaining ones. They were in original boxes and Styrofoam with lens covers etc... Very clear and crisp through the scopes. They were 3x9x32 and two ...
Usually find 'em at Walmart for around $79. Its actually more scope than a .22 needs, but it'll give Old Eyes a serious advantage at the range For a little less, you can grab a Center Point 3-9x30 for around $59...with which you can use medium or high rings on your standard accessory 3/8" rail.
