The Singapore Premier League, commonly abbreviated as the SPL, officially known as the AIA Singapore Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is a men's professional football league sanctioned by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), which represents the sport's highest level in the Singapore football league system.
The 2022 Singapore Premier League (also known as the AIA Singapore Premier League due to sponsorship reasons) was the 5th season of the Singapore Premier League, the top-flight Singaporean professional league for association football clubs, since its rebranding in 2018.

A red card comes with a mandatory suspension of 1-6 matches, depending on the severity of the offence. Getting 2 red cards in the season results in a $1,000 fine and a possible harsher penalty from the Disciplinary Committee.
It is currently the top leading amateur football league in Singapore and is a league cater for both local and expatriate players who are not involved in the national leagues and residing in Singapore. There have been many well known retired or semi-retired professional footballers who have come to participate in this league over the years.

The champions of the 2020 Singapore Premier League qualified for the AFC Champions League group stage automatically. DPMM FC were the defending champions, but withdrew from the league prior to the season re-starting in October 2020. The league was won by Albirex Nigata (S) on the last matchday after beating Hougang United 1-0.
