Indiana Landmarks’ Black Heritage Preservation Program expands the work of the organization’s African American Landmarks Committee, established in 1992 to help identify, save, and celebrate historic African American sites in around the state.
Through a special fund we established in partnership with The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, Indiana Landmarks makes grants to support nonprofit organizations working to preserve historic buildings and neighborhoods in Marion County.

A 37-member Board of Directors governs Indiana Landmarks, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. Board members come from throughout Indiana and beyond, serving three-year terms following their election at our annual membership meeting.
