I am tolerating my chemo better than most, but each one really does get worse it seems. I was out of commision for day 2 and 3, day 4 I could function. and Day 5 I am pretty well good. Just very tired and a bit weak. I try to exercise daily, I did exercise day 1 and 2 after chemo, nothing day 3, but was able to get back to it a bit on Day 4 and 5.
I had very minor side effects. I was tired and a little achey around days 3-5 but rebounded after each treatment. I managed to exercise throughout chemo, which I think really helped a lot. The radiation knocked me out in terms of fatigue and worse than chemo in my opinion. I never had any nausea with the chemo.
Hair - shedding started 14 days after the first infusion - which was the day of my 2nd infusion. 3 days after the shedding started, I shaved the remaining bits. The day of the treatment, I slept when I came back home. I took an anti-nausea pill the moment I woke up. The 1st time around, I waited a bit and the nausea hit me hard.

Chemo 1st with Taxotere/ Carboplatin and Herceptin, surgery than radiation. you have an agressive cancer, besides the er- pr- and HER2+, you have the cytokertin and a few other things. The chemo will shrink some things first and they will be better able to monitor if the chemo stops working. You have the kind that bilds a sesitance to chemo.
nopink, your old Onco sounds like my Onco. 2nd opinion doctor asked me what is the plan after 3 months of chemo, I replied I don’t know because Onco never discussed it with me. 2nd opinion believe QOL will be affected if I do chemo as 1st defense. My chemo is supposed to start this Friday but I decided to cancel and do hormonal/targeted instead.
Got my 2nd Moderna vaccine yesterday. I had covid back in December with mild symptoms. When I got the 1st vaccine a month ago, I had headache, chills some body aches with the first. But "they" say if you had covid then the 1st vaccine dose can hit you hard. I still got chills, body aches and headache with the 2nd.
Thanks!! I bragged on this group to my oncologist. I told him you all were such wonderful strength for me. He was glad to hear we had a September chemo group talking amongst ourselves. Your greatest ally is someone who knows exactly what you’re going through!
