Cerro Catedral ("Cathedral Hill"), also known as Cerro Cordillera, is a peak and the highest point of Uruguay, with an altitude of 513.66 m (1,685.2 ft).It is located north of Maldonado Department, in the municipality of Aiguá, in a hill range named Sierra Carapé, which constitutes part of a larger range named Cuchilla Grande.

The Montevideo Metropolitan Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral Metropolitana de Montevideo) is the main Roman Catholic church of Montevideo, and seat of its archdiocese. It is located right in front of the Cabildo across Constitution Square , in the neighbourhood of Ciudad Vieja .
The original temple dates back to the 1830s and was built directly on the seashore. It was made possible through the sole effort of Samuel Fisher Lafone. [1]At the beginning of the 20th century it was re-built on its current location, due to the modern development of the Rambla of Montevideo.
Montevideo is the only archdiocese in Uruguay and its archbishop is thus seen as leader of the Uruguayan Church. The archdiocese's mother church and thus seat of its archbishop is the Montevideo Metropolitan Cathedral. The current archbishop of Montevideo is Daniel Sturla, SDB, who was installed on 9 March 2014.

Cuchilla Grande is a hill range that crosses the east part of Uruguay from north to south. It extends from the south part of Cerro Largo Department, through the departments of Treinta y Tres and Lavalleja and ends in Maldonado Department where it forms its highest peaks.
