Grayson County is a county located in the southwestern part of the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 15,333. [1] Its county seat is Independence. [2] Mount Rogers, the state's highest peak at 5,729 feet (1,746 m), is in Grayson County.

New Kent County was established in 1654 from York County, Virginia. Kent County, England: 26,134: 210 sq mi (544 km 2) Northampton County: 131: Eastville: 1634: Original county of the Colony under England, initially named Accomac Shire. In 1642, it was renamed Northampton County. However, in 1663, Northampton County was divided into two counties.
All counties, with the exception of Arlington County, are further subdivided into magisterial districts. [1] Magisterial districts are defined by the United States Census Bureau as a minor civil division that is a nonfunctioning subdivision used in conducting elections or recording land ownership, and are not governments.
