Bullet: The quartering toward angle is fine for the firearm hunter. Aim at the head, neck or center of the chest for an effective hit. Be aware of where your bullet will end up. If you shoot a deer in or behind the near front shoulder the bullet will likely pass through the stomach and intestines (gut shot) and into the hind quarters.
RE: 22 Cal To Shoot Deer This seems to be a thread that has been discussed at length on these boards. Remember that 80% of the people on the board think that a deer has armor plating like a panzer tank and that anything less than their new 300 whizbanggroundpounding magnum will bounce off the deer's hide.
whoever drops the deer! if you make a "kill shot, but it runs 100 yards and is about to go down, but just as its going down, another hunter fires and hits it. its the other hunters. who knows who made the "kill shot", possibly you both could have. it boils down to common sense and the situation. i have never been in the situation. but i will tell you, if i shot a deer and i knew i made a good ...
I agree with hawkeye. Sounds like you will have some good hunting come fall!! do some serious huntin in fall and shoot alot of does. unless you are doing farming on a VERY small tract of land, you arent loosing 1000's of dollars and you arent loosing everything. we have a 10 acre corn field with a high deer density and you can barely notice they touched it.
RE: best spot to shoot a deer I've always been taught to shoot deer behind the shoulder. There have been some instances when I was shotgun hunting that I made other type of shots (little buck was getting ready to bolt and could only see its head at 15 yards, and a neck shot on a doe at 20 yards head on).
After about 50 yards, it is starting to be un-ethical to shoot the deer with a bow. By about that distance, the deer are able to see arrow, hear the bow and have time to react. Maybe they will move, maybe they won't. The risk is high that you will end up with a gut shot.
Do not use a 410 for deer. Do not use buckshot for deer. The 410 is effective at very close range, with a slug, only. Buckshot is not effective at all. You would be shooting 9 pelletsthat will have a foot spread at 10 yards and increase from there. If you are going to shoot a deer, shoot it with a solid projectile.
don't shoot a slug through it. i'm smart enough not to test it lol ! i just got a cheap REVELATION[western auto] 12 gauge pump w/vent rib barrel and full choke and would like to deer hunt with it if it's safe to put slugs through it. i've always used imp. or mod. but this gun doesn't have screw in tubes.
Whitetail Deer Hunting - Would You Hunt Or Shoot Deer From A Boat ? - Here in NC a NC Wildlife officer told me is was legal to shoot deer from a boat. As long as the boat motor wasn't running. And the boat wasn't in motion from the motor. Like run the boat close to a deer and just cut off the motor with the boat still
