I have a Excel 2010 and I want to use a Check Mark. I went to online help and it says to insert a symbol from Windings, but I can't find a check mark symbol. It then says do Alt + 0252, but it won't let me work that.

Can a formula return a symbol? In cell A1, there's a check mark symbol. In cell A2, there's an X symbol. In cell A3, a deadline date. I have a list of tasks with completion dates. I want a formula that if the completed date does not meet the deadline date then an X or check mark is the result. My formula returns a P or Q letter.
