Of course, there will be an equal chorus of folks excoriating marineland LOL. I have had many tanks from both aqueon and marineland, and haven’t had any problems with either brand. They’re pretty basic tanks, and priced accordingly. FWIW, in those prior pictures some clearly are scratches. The bottom corner looks like a crack.
Aqueon Glass Aquariums Tempered vs. Non Tempered: Due to glass availability, Central Aquatics may temporarily substitute regular or non-tempered glass panels with tempered glass panels. Anytime a glass substitution is made, a sticker will be adhered to the aquarium bottom as a precaution to the end user.
I have a 90g aqueon planted discus tank I bought new 10 years ago and this week the front bottom seam started leaking, I am going to get a seapora 110g Saturday. Reply Feb 25, 2021
I saw though that aqueon tanks are sometimes tempered and sometimes not, I figured ill do the sunglasses test to see if its tempered in the store or not. But was just wondering if this has every failed and if anyone recently bought an aqueon tank, how its doing basically. Also does anyone know when the next dollar per gallon sale might be?
Yeah, no more dollar per gallon in general, some aqueon are on sale but only 30% off. This one is not included. Bet this does not drop below $120 on sale at Petco if it goes on sale at all this year since new. They have one near me and they are offering $20 off if you order online and pick up though.
What is the better quality tank . Aqueon or Seapora. Please resond only if you have firsthand experience. Also for those with Eurobraced tanks .How do you manage if you later decide to use a hangon the back filter or Canister filter. These Type of built tanks seem to LIMIT YOUR options to only...
What are the chances of all panes on an Aqueon 75 gallon tank from Petco being tempered? All panes show stripes with my laptop and polarized sunglasses. I tested a known non-tempered piece of glass and the glasses blacked out.
Its not consistent for all tanks. I would be sure to always check the panel of glass you plan to drill. I learned the expensive mistake and drilled a 75 gallon aqueon tank without checking. I drilled the back panel and it shattered not the bottom.
I recently bought an Aqueon 55 gallon and tried to drill it. Find out the hard way it was tempered. I then looked at a few more Aqueon as well as Marineland at LFSs and they were all tempered. I ended up ordering a Seapora non-tempered, drill it, and it is working perfectly. The Seapora glass is 5/16 versus 1/4 in the Aqueon.
I have a Aqueon 29gal im running a shrimp tank. *knocking on wood* So far its been doing great. I also have yet to have a 10gal or a 20gal long fail on me. I think the issues probably mostly lie in the larger tanks. As for recovery, id run a fan and a dehumidifier. If you can dry the area out fast, you can probably luck out on not getting mold.
