The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art ("The Johnson Museum") is an art museum located on the northwest corner of the Arts Quad on the main campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Its collection includes two windows [ 1 ] from Frank Lloyd Wright 's Darwin D. Martin House , and more than 35,000 other works in the permanent collection. [ 2 ]
Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art. Herbert Fisk Johnson Jr. graduated from Cornell University in 1922 and became deeply involved with the institution. From 1947 to 1972, he served as an active member of the board of trustees, followed by his role as an emeritus board member until 1978.

Hartell died at his home in Ithaca, New York in 1995. Cornell University named its Sibley Hall art gallery the John A. Hartell Gallery [7] and established the position of John A. Hartell Intern (Prints, Drawings, and Photographs) at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art as well as the John A. Hartell Award for Distinguished Teaching.
