Athens Transit is a public bus system in Athens, Georgia, United States. The system was started in 1976, and today 20 routes operate throughout the city. The whole system is fare free. [4] Most bus routes have the buses stop at a given location once per hour during operating hours.
All fixed routes are fare-free and open to anyone including students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The service is funded primarily by a transportation fee paid by students each semester. Unlike the transit systems found in many college towns, Campus Transit is separate from the Athens Transit system serving Athens-Clarke County.
