The Bona Allen Mansion, also known as Bona Allen House, at 395 Main St. in Buford, Georgia, in Gwinnett County. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. [1] It was built in 1911. [1] It was it home of Bona Allen, Sr. The listing included eight contributing buildings, including a smokehouse. [2]
The house, currently in Gwinnett County, was built in 1812, six years before the county was established. In 1809, Elisha Winn, Roger Pugh, and Elijah Pugh purchased 7,300 acres (30 km 2 ) on the Apalachee River from a Jackson County tax collector.
Formerly located in unincorporated Gwinnett County (near Norcross), now within the city limits of Peachtree Corners. The building is typical of early 20th Century rural schoolhouse architecture. The school was a fixture of the Mechanicsville community in the early 1900s.
