This is a list of the universities in Finland.Institutions of higher education are designated as universities by Finnish legislation. [1] Only universities have the right to confer degrees in the categories of alempi korkeakoulututkinto/lägre högskoleexamen (bachelor's degree) and ylempi korkeakoulututkinto/högre högskoleexamen (master's degree) and doctoral degrees.

In 2022, it was ranked as the 10th most popular university in Finland among applicants, with the lowest acceptance rate, making it particularly challenging to secure a place at the university.
Xamk is the 4th largest university of applied sciences in Finland with 12 000 students and 1007 staff members (724 in teaching and research personnel) across four campuses [1]. Xamk is jointly owned by the cities of Mikkeli, Kotka, Savonlinna and Kouvola with Mikkeli holding a majority stake (52%) since August 2019.
The University of Eastern Finland is a multidisciplinary university. The four faculties of the UEF offer teaching in nearly 100 major subjects and degree programs. The first premises of the University of Turku were in the centre of the city, by the market square. In the 1950s a new campus was built on Ryssänmäki (Russian Hill [5] – now known as University Hill). In the 1960s the university started to expand rapidly, a process that still continues. The university was made a public institution in 1974. [6]
