Mohawk is an unincorporated community in McDowell County, West Virginia, United States. Mohawk is 6 miles (9.7 km) west-northwest of Iaeger . Mohawk had a post office , which opened on December 8, 1903, and closed on June 27, 2009. [ 3 ]

The West Virginia United Veterans National Cemetery Committee was established and sought to pressure the governor and federal government representatives to seek a new national cemetery. In 1987, the 58 acres (23 ha) West Virginia National Cemetery opened nearby. [7] The Grafton cemetery closed to most new interments.
Soon a cemetery was established. The current Greek Revival building was constructed in 1851. Morgan Morgan I, II, III, and IV are all buried in the church cemetery, although the historic marker for Morgan Morgan is over a mile away near the town center and mill. Morgan Morgan's descendants later founded Morgantown, West Virginia. [2]
In 1866, Greenwood cemetery was established east of the city, which decreased funeral use of this cemetery, although it remained an important regional park. In 1933 as the Great Depression began, paths were improved and 100 oak trees planted. Mt. Woods cemetery shrank somewhat over time, as interments became less frequent.
