Lichfield District (UK: / ˈ l ɪ tʃ ˌ f iː l d /) [2] is a local government district in Staffordshire, England. The district is named after its largest settlement, the city of Lichfield , which is where the district council is based.

Lichfield is situated 18 miles (29 km) south-east of the county town of Stafford, 9 miles (14 km) north-east of Walsall, 8 miles (13 km) north-west of Tamworth and 13 miles (21 km) south-west of Burton upon Trent. Whittington is a village and civil parish [2] which lies approximately 3 miles south east of Lichfield, in the Lichfield district of Staffordshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 2,591, increasing to 2,603 at the 2011 Census. [3] The parish council is a joint one with Fisherwick. [4]
