The Karachi Dock Labour Board (KDLB) is responsible for labour relations between employees and the Karachi Port Trust. The KDLB was formed in 1973 to provide dock workers with a rotational system of employment at the docks. The Karachi Dock Labour Board (KDLB) is responsible for labour relations between employees and the Karachi Port Trust. In October 2006, the Pakistan government decided to close down Karachi Dock Labour Board by the end of the year as part of its port strategy and under the National Trade Corridor (NTC) programme.
Karachi Port Trust Building was designed by George Wittet, who was also the architect of Prince of Wales Museum. The building's construction commenced in 1912. [ 2 ] The Napier Mole Road was extended to the site by 1914, and terminated at a spot known as Willingdon Place. [ 3 ]
