The Philadelphia Orchestra is an American symphony orchestra, based in Philadelphia. One of the " Big Five " American orchestras, the orchestra is based at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts , where it performs its subscription concerts, numbering over 130 annually, at Marian Anderson Hall (formerly Verizon Hall).
She assumed the chair, full-time, with the 2006–2007 concert season. Jantsch is the youngest member of the Orchestra and is, according to National Public Radio, [6] the first woman to hold a Principal Tuba chair among major orchestras in the United States. In addition to the Orchestra, Ms. Jantsch also teaches at Yale School of Music. [7]
From 1939 until 1944, he was the tubist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under Fritz Reiner. In 1941, Jacobs toured the country with Leopold Stokowski and the All-American Youth Orchestra. He was a member of the Chicago Symphony from 1944 until his retirement in 1988.
