To create single-color areas, the flood fill tool is often the easiest tool. First select an odd color (e.g. pink if there is no pink in the image) and experiment to find the right tolerance setting. Undo each time. Now you pick a main area color (try control-click while flood-fill is activated) and fill by clicking into each contiguous area.

To use a colour in a template or table you can use the hex triplet (e.g. #CD7F32 is bronze) or HTML color name (e.g. red).. Editors are encouraged to make use of tools, such as Color Brewer 2 to create Brewer palettes, listed at MOS:COLOR for color scheme selection used in graphical charts, maps, tables, and webpages with accessibility in mind for color-blind and visually impaired users.
In computer graphics, a palette is the set of available colors from which an image can be made. In some systems, the palette is fixed by the hardware design, and in others it is dynamic, typically implemented via a color lookup table (CLUT), a correspondence table in which selected colors from a certain color space's color reproduction range are assigned an index, by which they can be referenced.
For each unique palette, an image color test chart and sample image (truecolor original follows) rendered with that palette (without dithering) are given. The test chart shows the full 256 levels of the red, green, and blue (RGB) primary colors and cyan, magenta, and yellow complementary colors, along with a full 256-level grayscale.
Shapes can be filled with color; there are a variety of possibilities from simple color to gradient fill [very useful for indicating a cylindrical object as you can see from the diagram on the right]. You can also fill an object with a texture of one of the pictures you have on your hardisk.
The image editor Picture Window Pro includes a "color correction" tool which affords complex remapping of points in a hue/saturation plane relative to either HSL or HSV space. [P] Video editors also use these models. For example, both Avid and Final Cut Pro include color tools based on HSL or a similar geometry for use adjusting the color in ...
Color quantization is critical for displaying images with many colors on devices that can only display a limited number of colors, usually due to memory limitations, and enables efficient compression of certain types of images. The name "color quantization" is primarily used in computer graphics research literature; in applications, terms such ...
