The Maryland–Virginia lacrosse rivalry (or Virginia–Maryland lacrosse rivalry) is an intercollegiate lacrosse rivalry between the Virginia Cavaliers and Maryland Terrapins. The teams first met in 1926 and have met 96 times, the second-most for UVA and third-most for UMD against any opponent.
In lacrosse, the teams first met in 1924 and have met annually since 1927, aside from brief interruptions due to World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to Maryland upgrading its club team to varsity in 1924, the teams met seven additional times, with Navy winning five of those. [1] However, these do not count in the official record.
The Maryland Terrapins men's lacrosse team represents the University of Maryland in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I lacrosse as a member of the Big Ten Conference. Maryland was a founding member of the Atlantic Coast Conference before withdrawing after the 2014 season.
The Johns Hopkins and Maryland women's lacrosse teams first played in 1979 in Arnold, Maryland, a game which the Lady Terps won handily, 17–1. They did not meet again until after the Johns Hopkins women's team was promoted from Division III to Division I in 1999.

Eight NCAA Division I college men's lacrosse teams met in the postseason single-elimination tournament to decide the national championship. Frank Urso scored five goals in the finals for Maryland. The Terps took 62 shots in both the semi-finals and the finals. In the championship game, Maryland and Navy combined for 120 shots.
