The Grand Theatre, Derby was a theatre in Derby in the English Midlands. It was opened in 1886, designed in an Italian renaissance style by a Birmingham architect Oliver Essex. It originally had a capacity of 2,500. Shortly after opening the theatre suffered a major fire, in which two people were killed and the building substantially damaged.
The theater that would become Fox Theater opened as Iris Theatre in 1918, after that theater relocated from 6415 to 6508 Hollywood Boulevard. The new theater, built in the Romanesque style by Frank Meline for P. Tabor , sat 1000 and was the second movie theater on Hollywood Blvd. [ 1 ]
