Los Fresnos is a city in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,114 at the 2020 census , up from 5,542 at the 2010 census. [ 4 ] It is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen–Raymondville and the Matamoros–Brownsville metropolitan areas.
The area in what is known as Los Cuates today was first settled in the late 1940s, with only scattered houses and farms in the area. It was most likely named for the surrounding Resaca de Los Cuates. The community soon developed into a colonia with several scattered houses in the 1960s. These homes numbered 30 in 1983.
As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 541 people, 229 households, and 158 families residing in the town. The population density was 2,602.6 inhabitants per square mile (1,004.9/km 2).
