  2. Elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH): How is it treated?

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/elevated-parathyroid-hormone-pth

Apparently this is called normocalcemic hyperparathyroidism. My primary care doc is an endocrinologist and after a bone density test showed that my bones were losing density (despite doing a lot of weight bearing exercise), he wanted to do the blood test and the 24 hour urine catch which showed the elevated (but not scary) PTH and normal ...

  3. Has anyone else on Reclast developed hyperparathyroidism?

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/has-anyone-else-on-reclast-developed...

I'm an athletic almost 67-year-old runner and weight trainer eating a plant based diet. I went on Reclast 2.5 years ago and about a year after my first annual Reclast infusion developed hyperparathyroidism. My endocrinologist had me on 50,000 Vitamin D for the past 2 years but levels keep going up (they went down briefly but are now at 132 PTH).

    - Groups 2) & 3) had lower blood serum levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH is a measure of PCa bone metastases) and PSA (see baseline/final chart attached). - "In conclusion, our clinical trial data support the hypothesis that prostatic in vivo vitamin D metabolism can be modulated by high oral vitamin D dosing.

  5. Mildly Elevated Blood Calcium (10.3) and Higher End PTH (60)...

Like you, my calcium had been steady for many years around 9.1-9.2. I had a reading of 9.7 in 2014, and this July it was 10.3. My parathyroid hormone was also at the high end of normal, but these two values should not both be high. If calcium is higher, then the PTH should be lower.

Parathyroid hormone: I'm considering my treatment options. Posted by tsch @tsch, May 6, 2022. Read through most of the comments about hyperparathyroidism, but did not see any situations like mine: I have absolutely no negative symptoms or pains, but last blood test showed PTH of 174. I have known it to be elevated since January 2020.

My thyroid was destroyed with radiation because of my Graves’ disease. Now, 12 years later I have been having issues for the last year and a half with TSH/ free t4 levels. My TSH is high and free t4 is normal, free t3 is on the low end. After much investigation the endo finally tested the Graves autoantibodies again and they are super high.

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/hypothyroidism-and-potential...

Hyperparathyroidism (HPTH) is not related to low thyroid, but if you have an autoimmune disorder, it may be different. The PTH is the main controlling mechanism for calcium. If your CA is low, your PTH will probably be higher. If your CA is elevated, then the PTH should be very very low.

There are several reason why someone with celiac disease may have bone loss. Malabsorption and inflammation are two of the main reasons for bone loss for celiac disease patients. Malabsorption of calcium leads to secondary hypoparathyriodism. When calcium levels are detected as low in the blood, parathyroid hormone (PTH) is secreted.
