Loake Brothers Ltd is a British shoemaker, founded in 1880, family-owned and still located in Kettering, Northamptonshire. The company was founded by the brothers John, Thomas and William Loake in 1880, in an outbuilding at Thomas Loake's house at 62 King Street, Kettering. [ 1 ]

Shoes.com (previously known as ShoeBuy.com) is an American footwear retailer. The website was established in Boston during 1999. In 2006, the company was acquired by IAC. In December 2016, Jet.com (a subsidiary of Walmart) completed the acquisition of ShoeBuy from IAC. [1] It was reported that Walmart paid US$70 million for the company. [2]
In 1963, the F. W. Woolworth Company purchased the Kinney Shoe Corporation and operated it as a subsidiary. In the 1960s, Kinney branched into specialty shoe stores, including Stylco in 1967, Susie Casuals in 1968, and Foot Locker on September 12, 1974. The first Foot Locker opened in the Puente Hills Mall in City of Industry, California. [5]
In 1971, David Lando realized that athletic shoes were by far the highest selling product in his store. That year, he and his son, Michael Lando, opened the first The Athlete's Foot store in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. [1] It was the first athletic footwear specialty store of its kind in the United States.
