The math template formats mathematical formulas generated using HTML or wiki markup. (It does not accept the AMS-LaTeX markup that <math> does.) The template uses the texhtml class by default for inline text style formulas, which aims to match the size of the serif font with the surrounding sans-serif font (see below).
The template is meant to be used with alphabetic text, typically one or a few capital letters. If the body contains an exposed equals-sign ("="), it will fail to render. For example, the following template use produces no result: {{mathcal|P=NP}}. There are two ways to resolve this. Method 1: Start the body with "1=", as in: {{mathcal|1=P=NP}},
This template illustrates the basic operations of elementary mathematics. Place this navbar at the bottom of pages that are linked. This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible.
2. Denotes the additive inverse and is read as minus, the negative of, or the opposite of; for example, –2. 3. Also used in place of \ for denoting the set-theoretic complement; see \ in § Set theory. × (multiplication sign) 1. In elementary arithmetic, denotes multiplication, and is read as times; for example, 3 × 2. 2.
If the "numerator" is 1, rules 3 and 4 give a result of 1. If the "numerator" and "denominator" are not coprime, rule 3 gives a result of 0. Otherwise, the "numerator" and "denominator" are now odd positive coprime integers, so we can flip the symbol using rule 6, then return to step 1. In addition to the codes below, Riesel [4] has it in Pascal.
