The show follows the life of protagonist Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), a covert operative who has been "burned" (identified as an unreliable or dangerous agent) and tries to find out why. [1]

[12] Matt Nix wrote the first episode of the season, his twentieth credit for the series. The episode was directed by Stephen Surjik; it was his seventh directing credit for Burn Notice.
In summer 2006, Matt Nix created Burn Notice, a TV series whose title refers to the burn notices issued by intelligence agencies, which discredit or announce the dismissal of agents or sources. The television series follows agent Michael Westen (played by Jeffrey Donovan ), who is abandoned by all his normal intelligence contacts.
