The Indiana University Trustees purchased the hotel and conference center for a total of $17.5 million in 2005 but talks of the deal began in late 2004. After Carte built the Savoy Hotel in 1889, the theatre entrance was moved to its present location at the hotel's courtyard off the Strand.
