This is a list of current further education colleges that are publicly funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency in England. The government considers colleges of the further education sector to be: "general FE (GFE) and tertiary colleges, sixth form (6F) colleges, specialist colleges (e.g. colleges of agriculture, or drama) and adult education institutes."
The college offers over 1000 part-time courses for all adults of any age. It operates out of two main centres and other community venues throughout the borough [ 1 ] The college grew out of an earlier organization, which offered adult and young adult education classes as early as the 1900s in the borough of Sutton.
In the most populous areas of Surrey, (e.g. Sutton, Wimbledon and Richmond) parents were for the most part obliged to be content to give their children an elementary education. Richmond County was to be one of a series of new technical buildings erected or being erected by the county council in the seven principal towns of the county. [ 2 ]

The university celebrated its 35th anniversary in May 2002 with a major event in Guildford Cathedral. It was also marked by the unveiling of The Surrey Scholar sculpture (by Allan Sly FBS) to mark the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen and as a gift to the people of Guildford. The Surrey Scholar is at the bottom of Guildford High Street.
