Nelson Lake is a dry lake in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, California, 67 km (42 mi) northeast of Barstow. The lake is approximately 3 km (1.9 mi) by 2 km (1.2 mi) at its widest point. Nelson Lake is on federal lands within the borders of the Fort Irwin Military Reservation, southwest of the Granite Mountains.

The Mono language is part of the Uto-Aztecan language family. Acorns are a traditional staple food with great symbolic importance. [3] Their oral history is included in Mono traditional narratives.
Location of Big Pine Reservation. The Big Pine Reservation was established in 1912 and is 279 acres (1.13 km 2) large, located along US 395 in the high desert town of Big Pine, California.
