This is a list of Yoga mudras. In yoga , mudrās are used in conjunction with pranayama (yogic breathing exercises), generally while seated in Padmasana , Ardhasiddhasana , Sukhasana or Vajrasana pose, to stimulate different parts of the body and mind, and to affect the flow of prana in the body.
Meditative postures or meditation seats are the body positions or asanas, usually sitting but also sometimes standing or reclining, used to facilitate meditation. Best known in the Buddhist and Hindu traditions are the lotus and kneeling positions; other options include sitting on a chair, with the spine upright.
Lotus position or Padmasana (Sanskrit: पद्मासन, romanized: padmāsana) [1] is a cross-legged sitting meditation pose from ancient India, in which each foot is placed on the opposite thigh. It is an ancient asana in yoga, predating hatha yoga, and is widely used for meditation in Hindu, Tantra, Jain, and Buddhist traditions.
A single asana is listed for each main pose, whether or not there are variations. Thus for Sirsasana (Yoga headstand), only one pose is illustrated, although the pose can be varied by moving the legs apart sideways or front-and-back, by lowering one leg to the floor, by folding the legs into lotus posture, by turning the hips to one side, by placing the hands differently on the ground, and so on.

The Yoga Sutra does not list any specific asana. [28] Āraṇya translates verse II.47 as, "asanas are perfected over time by relaxation of effort with meditation on the infinite"; this combination and practice stops the body from shaking. [29] Any posture that causes pain or restlessness is not a yogic posture.
Jain meditation (Sanskrit: ध्यान, dhyana) has been the central practice of spirituality in Jainism along with the Three Jewels. [1] Jainism holds that emancipation can only be achieved through meditation or shukla dhyana. [2] According to Sagarmal Jain, it aims to reach and remain in a state of "pure-self awareness or knowership."
