pump. Hathorn Davey was a British manufacturer of steam engines, based in Leeds. The Sun foundry was established in 1846 and made railway engines and pumping machinery until 1870. The premises were taken over in 1872 by Hugh Campbel, Alfred Davis and John Hathorn. They were joined by Henry Davey in 1873 and traded as Hathorn, Davey & Co from 1880.
Like its medium-speed predecessor the Paxman YH, the Ventura is a 60° V engine with 6, 8, 12 or 16 cylinders. [1] The engines are similar in many details, and broadly similar in capacity and power; their main differences are in their operating speed, the improvements necessary to achieve this, and the Ventura's resulting lighter weight.
Warman centrifugal pump in a coal preparation plant application A pair of centrifugal pumps for circulating hot water within a hydronic heating system. Centrifugal pumps are used to transport fluids by the conversion of rotational kinetic energy to the hydrodynamic energy of the fluid flow. The rotational energy typically comes from an engine ...
In industry, circulator pumps are used in processes, plant maintenance, and as built-in parts in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) products. In the water-supply and wastewater sector, Grundfos offers pumps for irrigation , green houses and for municipal, private and industrial water supply as well as for sewage applications.
Different types of pumps are suitable for different applications, for example: a pump's maximum lift height also determines the applications it can be used for. Low-lift pumps are only suitable for the pumping of surface water (e.g., irrigation, drainage of lands, ...), while high-lift pumps allow deep water pumping (e.g., potable water pumping ...
A traditional hydraulic ram has only two moving parts, a spring or weight loaded "waste" valve sometimes known as the "clack" valve and a "delivery" check valve, making it cheap to build, easy to maintain, and very reliable. Priestly's Hydraulic Ram, described in detail in the 1947 Encyclopedia Britannica, has no moving parts. [9]
