The Star of Texas Awards is a prestigious American law enforcement medal and award of the State of Texas that was designed to honor Texas peace officers (law enforcement officers), firefighters, emergency medical first responders, and federal law enforcement officers who have lost their lives or sustained serious injuries while performing their duties.

In 1983, Lubbock non-profit group, Civic Lubbock, Inc. was asked to administer the Walk of Fame and have annually nominated and inducted many West Texas artists. In 2011, the City of Lubbock moved the West Texas Walk of Fame to its new home at the Buddy and Maria Elena Holly Plaza located at 19th Street and Crickets Avenue.
The Texas Trail Hall of Fame is a cowboy hall of fame in Fort Worth, Texas. Established in 1997, [1] [2] the building is located at 130 E.
