WDAE is one of the oldest radio stations in Florida still broadcasting today, going on the air in 1922. The studios and offices are on Ulmerton Road in Clearwater, Pinellas County [2] The transmitter site is located near the Gandy Bridge in St. Petersburg. [3] WDAE is licensed to broadcast with 5,600 watts by day and 5,500 watts at night.

It simulcast co-owned WDAE (1250 AM) and the two stations were owned by the Tampa Times newspaper. WDAE-AM-FM were CBS Radio Network affiliates, running its dramas, comedies, news, sports and other programming during the Golden Age of Radio. The station carried the WATL call sign from 1966 to 1968, returning to WDAE-FM after two years.
