Would love it if they had a modern entry for service rifle also. When it comes to solid investments in firearms, the CMP GARAND IS JUST ABOUT ALL THERE IS FOLKS. I bought 500 paper targets for $51 including shipping from them. I’m set for the next like decade of weekly target shooting.
Common misconception, but it actually has nothing to do with bullet weight. 168gr Hornady Match is the go-to Garand load for competition, and military M72 match ammo was 175gr. I know a guy who shoots 200gr handloads for 800+ yard targets.

I bought a Gerand from CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program). $750 last spring for a rack grade. New stock 0-0 barrel. I chose that instead of unrestored historical rifle because I want to shoot it and not feel bad. Google “the CMP org.” Navigate the site and you’ll find rifles for sale. Maybe some 1911s if you’re lucky.
