The GM motor is a huge 496ci Big Block V8 motor, compared to the 'small' 6.8L V10. Now, why does this motor have to be so huge to make only make 30HP/TQ more at similar RPM? Looking at the numbers, the Ford V10 makes 45.59 HP per liter vs the GM engine that makes 42 per liter.
They also said that it would be a rare instance when someone would encounter a hill that steep in the real world. Bottom line was that the Ford V-10 stayed with all of the diesels except for a few instances. 2002 F-350 SRW Lariat,4X4, PSD with too many goodies to list. 182k and a very strong 7.3. Help with V10 noise and other troubleshooting. There is a gravely rattling sound from the top portion of the engine (V10). The noise is mostly evident during idle, but can be heard when revving up to 2000 rpms. Similar to the sound of a bad water pump but it is not the water pump because it still exists with the drive belt temporarily removed.
It's a 1999 F-250 with a V-10 and an automatic. It has 200,000 miles and an engine miss. When it first came in, the SES light was on with a code for 'Random Misfire'. I replaced the spark plugs and plug/ coil boots, cleared the code and drove the truck for about 30 miles- everything was fine. The truck came back the next morning, with the same ...
Stationary idle control is really unnecessary on gassers, other than in PTO applications. Diesels need the heat, gassers do not. I agree with PowerStrokeHD. The combustion chamber in a compression ignition engine at low idle RPM in really-cold weather will get colder and colder until it's too cold to result in complete combustion.
They compared performance between the Ford V10 and the supposedly stronger Chevy V8. The V10 trounced the V8 despite the higher horsepower rating of the GM motor. It was faster both unloaded and pulling close to a 10,000 pound trailer. I glad Ford finally increased the power ratings of the V-10.

Went down to my muffler man getting brake work and ball joints replaced and i asked about improving exhaust note since my flowmaster catback ...
A little background: We have own fords for many years. We purchased in 2008 a new F350 with a 6.4L Diesel engine for our business. When we picked it up, it was the sharpest truck we have ever owned, but have had nothing but trouble. First problems began with the leaks in the radiators. 3 seperate times we had it at the dealer, each time getting ...
