When Pikachu is severely injured, the Squirtle lets Ash out to get medicine from town but must return soon or his friends will be trapped by the Squirtle Squad forever. In the end, the Squirtle Squad saves the town from a fire started by Team Rocket and the lead Squirtle of the squad joins Ash on his further adventures.
In the ruins of an ancient kingdom, Jessie uncovers a staff and mask that allows her to control any Pokémon. Team Rocket escapes with Ash's Pikachu, but discovers the Pokémon-controlling abilities of the staff and mask only work within the boundaries of the village. It's up to Brock to stop Team Rocket and retrieve the staff and mask.

After defending the island from Team Rocket, they head to the Gym to have a Double Battle where Pikachu and Charizard battle against Marowak and Alakazam but Pikachu's and Charizard's unwillingness to work together might end up costing Ash his chance of qualifying for the Orange League.
If the player successfully completes a job, they receive a reward and Rescue Points, which increase a team's rank. These jobs take place in dungeons, the layout of which are randomized. The objective is to either finish a job or go through all the floors to find the exit. In the dungeon, there are wild Pokémon that battle with the player's team.
