A forest kindergarten can be described as a kindergarten "without a ceiling or walls". The daycare staff and children spend their time outdoors, typically in a forest. A distinctive feature of forest kindergartens is the emphasis on play with objects that can be found in nature, rather than commercial toys.
Forest school is an outdoor education delivery model in which students visit natural spaces to learn personal, social and technical skills. It has been defined as "an inspirational process that offers children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning in a woodland environment". Forest School Camps (FSC) is an organization primarily aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 17. FSC runs camps throughout the year, with the main ones lasting 13 nights during late July and August, and additional one-week and weekend camps at Easter and during the spring and early summer.
