Charlestown (Cornish: Porth Meur, meaning great cove) is a village and port on the south coast of Cornwall, England, in the civil parish of St Austell Bay. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) southeast of St Austell town centre. [1] The port at Charlestown developed in the late 18th century from the fishing village of West Polmear.

Sharp's Brewery is a British brewery founded in 1994 in St Minver Lowlands, Rock, Cornwall, by Bill Sharp. [citation needed] Since 2011, the brewery has been owned by Molson Coors. It is best known for its flagship ale Doom Bar, named after the notoriously perilous Doom Bar sandbank in north Cornwall.
It is one of the oldest inns in Cornwall, the public house is dated to "circa 1312" although the present building was built in the 17th or 18th century. Made of granite rubble, with a slate roof, the Sloop Inn was the favourite haunt of Victorian artists, including Louis Grier , and many of his paintings hung there in earlier years.
