Oswego Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse is an active aid to navigation located off the coast of Oswego, New York. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] It was built in 1934 to replace an earlier light constructed in 1880. It stands at the end of a 2,000-foot-long (610 m) breakwater at mouth of Oswego River , extending one-half mile (0.80 km) out onto Lake Ontario .

To the direct east, Cayuga County is relatively thin near Lake Ontario, so the Seaway Trail doesn't take long to pass through it. Fair Haven Beach State Park is nearby, and in July and August, travelers can visit the Sterling Renaissance Festival. Ogdensburg Harbor Light is a privately owned lighthouse on the St. Lawrence River, listed on the National Park Service's Maritime Heritage Program as Lighthouse to visit. [2] [3] and as one of New York's Historic Light Stations. [4] In 2016 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [5]
The lighthouse tower is 45 feet (14 m) tall and has six interior decks. A breakwall was added over the next three years to protect the structure, adding 9,000 tons of riprap to the original 803 tons, creating a 25 feet (7.6 m) island that rises 32 feet (9.8 m) from the bottom.
